Qualified but out of work PGCE teachers look abroad to teach TEFL

Despite being considered ‘the golden age for schools’ recent figures have revealed that 38,000 teachers were unemployed in the UK at the end of last year – more than double than this time 5 years ago.

The figures have been blamed on fewer jobs for qualified teachers, over-stretched school budgets and geographical variations in the teacher job market.

For a proportion of qualified PGCE teachers securing a job has been difficult. Many qualified PGCE teachers are now looking for paid TEFL jobs abroad.

Teaching English to Chinese helps graduates kick-start career

LoveTEFL is looking to recruit 100 graduates to teach English as a foreign language (TEFL) and send to schools in China for a one-year work placement in August.

The impressive free programme also offers the chance to gain a free online accredited Teaching English as a Foreign Language Certificate (TEFL) certificate, free accommodation, a salary of £600 per month, weekly meal allowances and return flight reimbursements after a successful completion of a 1 year contract.
